Matt Brown
Director
My work background:
Having undertaken my Building Control Surveyor training and gaining membership to RICS at a large national Approved Inspector, I was fortunate to gain exposure to an extensive portfolio of Commercial projects. These varied in size and complexity from nationwide Retail Store Roll Outs and Office Fit Outs to very large Mixed-Use schemes and Student Accommodation.
Having set up Cook Brown Building Control in 2004 with James Cook, we grew the business to over forty employees within six years, with a varied client base across England and Wales. Our vision has always been to focus on delivering an exceptional service to our clients.
Cook Brown joined the Hickton Group in 2020 and this marks the start of an exciting new chapter of growth and development for Cook Brown Building Control, and the businesses within the newly formed Group.

About me:
Born and raised in South Wales, I now live near Bristol with my wife and two boys. I enjoy keeping active with swimming, walking and cycling, not just for me but to try and keep my boys tired out as well!!
Random facts:
My first degree was in Marine Biology, studied at Plymouth University. My calling to building sites was stronger than that for dolphins and beaches and I went back to university at UWE to study Building Surveying as part of my training at Butler & Young.
